The Peculiar Children Wiki

A. F. Crumbley was a male peculiar appearing in Hollow City after his death, when Jacob Portman and his friends stumble upon his corpse in Miss Thrush's loop.

Biography[]

Pre-Hollow City[]

Crumbley fled from his own loop located in the country, likely after it was attacked by wights, and to Millicent Thrush's loop in London. Not long afterwards, it too would be raided by wights, during which Miss Thrush and several of her wards were captured. Crumbley refused to be taken alive and committed suicide through aging forward.

His corpse was left out in the middle of the courtyard of Miss Thrush's house and covered with a black tarp. A note was inserted into his shoe reading "Mr. A. F. Crumbley, Lately of the Outer Provinces, Aged forward rather than be taken alive, and Kindly requests his remains be deposited in the Thames".

Hollow City[]

Eventually Jacob Portman, Emma Bloom and Horace Somnusson stumble upon his body. Jacob is surprised to see that Crumbley is not a withered corpse and instead looks like he is sleeping. However, he had become a desiccated cast of himself and the side of his head crumbles to dust when Emma touches his ear with her boot.

Appearance[]

Crumbley is physically a man of forty or fifty years with black hair graying just around his temples.
