Woman and Armageddon chicken
Armageddon chickens, scientific name pullum periculum,[1] are peculiar chickens that lay explosive eggs. One flock lived in Miss Wren's Menagerie.
History[]
Armageddon chickens' explosive eggs are an excellent defense mechanism against animal predators. They became highly sought-after after humans discovered this, and wanted to use their eggs as a weapon. Hannibal carried a flock with him in his campaign against the Romans in 218 B.C., which Ca'ab Magda was also a part of. However, Armageddon chickens do not do well in captivity, almost going extinct, and there are only a few flocks left in existence.[1]
Hollow City[]
Some of Miss Wren's flock of chickens' eggs were given to the peculiar children on their quest to find Miss Wren. These chickens were most likely captured or killed by Caul and his army.
The Desolations of Devil's Acre[]
In Miss Tern's menagerie, Millard Nullings dodges a group of chickens passing by, and asks whether they are "the exploding type." Addison MacHenry replies that Armageddon chickens only lay their eggs in the morning, and only in their coops.
