Clans, some more often referred to as gangs, are communities or gatherings of peculiars, though the term is primarily used in America.

History[]

In America, clans began fighting for territory, influences and resources, becoming divided and distrustful of one another. The three major factions have long-standing boundary disputes, old grudges and etc., but the threat of hollowgast attacks seriously reduced their mobility and prevented skirmishes from escalating into war. All over the country, it is illegal to induce an uncontacted peculiar into leaving the country.

The North, East, and West are held by the Northerners, the Five Boroughs, and the Californios respectively. Texas and the South are autonomous, semi-lawless zones which have resisted efforts to centralize control in any one loop, worsening societal rifts.

A Map of Days[]

The European ymbrynes had been trying to negotiate peace between the American clans for months, but their efforts are thrown into jeopardy when Jacob and his friends attempt to carry out H's mission, and induce Noor Pradesh into leaving.

The Conference of the Birds[]

With the three major clans at the brink of war, made more complicated by H and Jacob's rescue of Noor from Leo Burnham, the ymbrynes continue their attempts to negotiate. The wights kidnap Ellery of the Northern clan, letting the blame fall on the Californios to create further conflict, and Miss Peregrine asks Jacob to find hollow residue that would prove the wights' guilt.
