The Peculiar Children Wiki

Dogface is a male peculiar and the leader of the Eldritch Street Untouchables, the most despised gang in New York.

History[]

A Map of Days[]

Dogface did not show up at first when Frankie called the three leaders of the most notorious peculiar gangs in New York to take a look at and buy Jacob Portman and his friends. He eventually does show, and Wreck Donovan shouts that he seriously doubted that Dogface would turn up. Dogface mocks Wreck in return, and doesn't flinch as Wreck attempts to attack him. Even after they settle down, Dogface insults Wreck's gang. He then says he needs chameleons due to his gang getting noticed by normals, and going through some close calls.

When Emma attacks Frankie, who shouts at the gang leaders to murder the group, Dogface and the other two don't do so, as they find the turn of events interesting. Briefly, they debate on who will get which peculiars, but soon learn that Jacob and his friends are not from the area, and that Noor is an uncontacted peculiar being "kidnapped," which is a crime in peculiar America. They report the group to Leo Burnham, whose men come and take them. The three leaders are also taken to Leo, but Dogface somehow manages to escape on the way.

The Conference of the Birds[]

Dogface and his Untouchables allow Hugh and Bronwyn to pass through their residence, an abandoned psychiatric hospital, from Devil's Acre to rescue Jacob and Noor from Burnham's men, though not without paying. When they return, Dogface informs Hugh and Bronwyn that there is also an exit fee, and then increases it from two hundred to five hundred after learning that they are being chased. Having only four hundred, Bronwyn tells Dogface they'll pay him the rest tomorrow. Dogface answers that it would be seven hundred then, which they agree to before he leads the group to the Devil's Acre loop entrance.

The Desolations of Devil's Acre[]

Dogface attends the all-Acre assembly along with Wreck Donovan and Angelica Minervis, apparently having been sent to the Acre by Leo Burnham to observe the way of life there. Dogface calls out to Jacob and his friends, also reminding them that they still have interest on their half-paid debt accruing. He and the other two gang leaders mock the way the children are treated by the ymbrynes, with Dogface calling them coddled and infantile. Claire tells him he'd have an easier time in life if he could just be decent, to which he answers that he and his Untouchables cannot afford to be due to their appearances. Before leaving, he takes issue with Emma's earlier statement that the Americans are forced to steal to earn their living, saying that for him, stealing is a passion. He then reveals that he has stolen Olive's locket, which he drops into her lap before the gang leaders leave.

While on their way to see Klaus, Jacob, Millard and Noor come across the gang leaders aiding in fortifying the entrance of the peculiar ministries building.

Dogface later flees from Caul's enhanced hollowgast with one of his Untouchables, though both appear more amused than scared. As Jacob and Emma run in the opposite direction towards the hollow, Dogface cheers for Jacob, leading to Emma calling him a coward. To his credit, however, he stops and turns back to fish out a woman who had jumped into Fever Ditch out of fear.

He and his Untouchables, along with Wreck and Angelica, join the Devil's Acre Defense Corps, to Jacob's surprise.

Dogface and Wreck see Jacob and his friends sneaking back into their house after receiving Klaus's bone clock, and call out to them. Jacob asks why they have not left with Parkins and LaMothe, who have called off their loop freedom deal with the ymbrynes. Wreck reveals that they have decided to stay, with Dogface calling the clan leaders "gutless traitors."

Dogface is stationed at the forecourt of the ministries building during the battle of Devil's Acre, defending the building. He recognizes Jacob as Jacob and the others arrive, and shouts for his cohort to hold their fire. Dogface and his group are shortly after joined and aided by Jacob's hollows.

After Caul's death, Dogface gets loop freedom along with all the other loop-trapped Acre peculiars.

Like his name says, he is a bit doglike, and every square inch of his face except his eyeballs and lips is covered in long, thick fur.
