Fern is a black girl, and looks younger than June and Alene.
Peculiarity[]
Fern is a diviner. She divines other peculiars, and can tell if they are close or far. This allows her to be able to find lost people.
Miss Wren compares this to Addison, but Fern says that while Addison smells peculiarity, she can see it. According to her, peculiarities emit a certain kind of energy, which she is sensitive to.
