Josep is a male peculiar living in Hopewell, a loop populated by deadriser children, where he acts as leader.
Biography[]
The Conference of the Birds[]
When Jacob Portman and Noor Pradesh go to his loop looking for the wights, he tells them he will let his friends in if he takes out the hollowgasts the wights brought with them. He, Eugenia, Lyle and another boy help by using thirty two of the loop's dead. When the hollow is subdued, Josep lets in the rest of the peculiars into the loop and shows them where the wights are. He sends some of his corpses as backup.
The Desolations of Devil's Acre[]
During the battle of Devil's Acre, Josep and Enoch deadraise together. Josep later alerts Jacob and his friends to Enoch having been injured.
Description[]
His voice is lower and more adult-sounding than he looks.
Physical Appearance[]
Josep wears a double-breasted coat with a matching cap. Jacob thinks he looks like the kind of boy grandmothers love to fawn over and call "my little man." His face, usually, is scowling.
Personality[]
Josep seems very mature for his appearance, being the leader of his loop. He is also very proud of the deadraising done in Hopewell, calling the place "a conservatory for the very talented" and where the young come to "hone their craft and practice the most arcane and sophisticated deadrising there is."
Peculiarity[]
Like the others in his loop, Josep is a deadriser, a peculiar with the ability to take the life from one thing and give it to another.
