Miss Waxwing is an ymbryne.
Biography[]
Pre-Series[]
Miss Waxwing would be kidnapped from her loop by Myron Bentham at an unknown time,[1] though it was either just prior to the events of Library of Souls, or someone took care of her loop, since the loop apparently did not slip while she was gone. It can also be assumed that she was kidnapped around the same time as Miss Troupial and Miss Grebe, since the three were put into the same case (along with Alexi) in Bentham's peculiarium. The three ymbrynes were held in suspended animation by Mother Dust's dust, while Alexi is taxidermied.
Library of Souls[]
Myron shows Jacob Portman and Emma Bloom the display containing Miss Waxwing, the other two ymbrynes, and Alexi when he is giving them a tour of his house. After the wights' first fall, Miss Waxwing and the other two ymbrynes were awakened, and likely went back to their loops.[1]
The Desolations of Devil's Acre[]
Miss Waxwing leaves her loop and brings her wards to Devil's Acre to join up with the other ymbrynes and peculiars there.[2] With the other eleven ymbrynes there, she participates in the creation of the Quilt, which is interrupted by Caul projecting the destruction of Miss Egret's loop into the Acre. When Miss Avocet permits Jacob and his friends to come up to the Ymbryne Council table and partake in the ymbrynes' discussion, Miss Waxwing states that this is irregular.[3]
Peculiarity[]
As an ymbryne, Miss Waxwing can manipulate time to create loops and turn into a waxwing.
