Norma Abernathy is a demi-ymbryne who keeps the loop at the Mel-O-Dee Restaurant. She is a longtime friend of H, and she works as a waitress at the restaurant itself.
A Map of Days[]
H would call Norma to tell her that he needed to use the Mel-O-Dee to talk with Jacob Portman and Emma Bloom, which she agreed to. While she is working a shift, H and Horatio arrive and wait inside the loop. Some time after, Emma and Jacob arrive.
Norma tells them to sit anywhere. After they are seated, she walks over to take their orders before whispering to Jacob that H is waiting. Jacob and Emma go into the back, where they stumble into the loop and encounter a hollowgast. While the two teens are distracted with fighting Horatio, Norma walks into the entrance hallway, leans against a wall, and starts smoking a cigarette. H, Jacob, and Emma find her there after finishing their conversation.
H greets her warmly. Norma hugs him and complains that H never visits her anymore, to which he answers that he's been busy. In response to Emma's questioning, Norma says that she is a demi-ymbryne, though she prefers the term "loop-keeper." She also says that she is paid good to keep the Mel-O-Dee loop open. H states that Norma manages a small portfolio of loops in South Florida, and then gives her some money thanking her for her help.
