–Miss Peregrine, regarding Coerlfolc |
Normals, known as coerlfolc (lit. common folk) in Old Peculiar, are average, everyday human beings who do not have peculiarities.
History[]
Normals once believed peculiars to be gods and coexisted relatively peacefully with them, but this slowly changed over time and people began to fear peculiars and persecute them, particularly through the Middle Ages to the nineteenth century. Loops became necessary for peculiars to survive. In America, normals figured out that peculiars lived in loops and founded the Organization to hunt them. In particular, they targeted ymbrynes, the creators of loops, leading to the extreme rarity of ymbrynes in the United States in the modern era.
By the twenty-first century, normals had forgotten about the existence of peculiars.
