Olivia was an ymbryne-in-training who got stuck in her owl form permanently. She is now an owl in Miss Wren's menagerie.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
At some point in her childhood, Olivia was found and sent to the Ymbryne Academy. During training, she suffered a bad accident that left her trapped in her owl form, unable to shift back. The older ymbrynes at the academy tried everything to help her before eventually taking her to Balenciaga Wren after five days. Miss Wren tried her best, but Olivia had permanently become an owl with her human self lost. It was decided to leave her at Miss Wren's menagerie, where she had lived for ten years by the events of Hollow City.[1]
Hollow City[]
Alma Peregrine's wards arrive at the menagerie a day or two after Miss Wren left for London to help other ymbrynes, where they kill the hollowgast that had entered the loop and caused trouble for the peculiar animals. The children are then greeted by Addison MacHenry, who leads them further into the menagerie and introduces them to the peculiar animals, including Olivia. She is introduced after Deirdre and the Armageddon chickens.
After gaining some trust in their new companions, the children tell the animals that they still have their ymbryne, not yet captured by the wights, but she is trapped in her bird form. No one knows at this point that Miss Peregrine had been swapped with her brother, Caul, and that the reason why Caul hadn't changed back was to gain access to the loop. Not knowing the peregrine's real identity, Addison diagnoses Miss Peregrine with having been poisoned and tells the kids that she will remain a bird forever if she cannot be changed back within a few days. He explains how this happened to Olivia.
Hours later, after all the children except Claire Densmore and Fiona Frauenfeld left the menagerie, wights would raid the loop. With Deirdre being the only peculiar animal casualty mentioned by Addison in Library of Souls, Olivia and the other animals presumably survived and may have remained at the menagerie, as they were also not mentioned to have been captured.

After Miss Wren was rescued from the wights, she made a new menagerie loop,[2] and likely relocated Olivia and the remaining animals to the new loop.
Peculiarity[]
She was once an ymbryne, which gave her the power to manipulate time and turn into a bird, specifically a barn owl.
