Radi Bekhmanatov is a young male peculiar with the peculiarity of being invisible.

He is a gypsy boy and the son of the leader of the gypsies, Bekhir. He is a trumpet player, and shares Millard's peculiarity.

Hollow City[]

He is part of a traveling group of gypsies in 1940. He is also part of the Gypsy children's band, playing the trumpet. His father brings Jacob Portman, Emma Bloom and Millard Nullings to meet him in the hope that they can help him. Millard proceeds to offer him comfort about his peculiarity, which is slowly turning him invisible. Millard shows that he, as a fellow invisible, is still there and okay, eliciting a smile from Radi much to Radi's mother's delight. Millard then starts listing the pros of the peculiarity to Radi, and they spend the evening talking. Radi tells Millard that he wants to go with the peculiars, which Millard neither says yes or no to before consulting Emma. After Emma says that it's impossible to bring Radi along, though, Millard goes back to tell Radi.

When some of the Gypsies accompany Jacob and his friends to the town Coal, Radi rides with his father on the horse leading the pack. At the town gates, however, he jumps off and announces that he still wants to go with the peculiars. However, Millard helps him and his father see that Radi belongs with the Gypsies, and promises that after the ordeal of rescuing the ymbrynes is over, he will come back to look for Radi.

When the wights attacked the Gypsies on their way back, Radi and two others were able to escape. It's unknown what eventually happens to Radi, since he never makes an appearance again and he is not mentioned again.

Description[]

Appearance[]

Radi is a young boy carrying a trumpet. Underneath his clothes, he is turning invisible, starting with his feet, and by the time Jacob and his friends arrive at town he is invisible from his midsection down.

Personality[]

Peculiarity[]

Radi's peculiarity is permanent invisibility. Like Millard, he was born visible, but as of Hollow City has disappeared halfway and is soon to become completely invisible.

Relationships[]

Bekhir Bekhmanatov[]

Bekhir loves Radi very much, even if he doesn't say it out loud. Partly the reason he protected Jacob and his friends from the wights was because of Radi, as Bekhir didn't know how to help his peculiar son who was gradually becoming invisible. When Radi wants to go with the other peculiar children, Bekhir states that he doesn't want his son to leave, but is doubtful that Radi can be properly cared for if the Gypsies can't see him. He also wonders if Radi would be better off with his own kind, but Millard dispels this by saying that if Bekhir loves his son, then Radi belongs with the Gypsies.

Millard Nullings[]

Millard comforts him about his peculiarity, which Millard himself can relate to. The two of them talk for a while about Radi's peculiarity, and the pros of being invisible.
