The Snake-Charmer Girl is a female peculiar who can control snakes.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
The snake-charmer girl was born and raised on an island off the coast of India, Simhaladvipa, a Sanskrit compound meaning dwelling place of lions. The island is known in the modern day as Sri Lanka and named in the Map of Days as The Land of Serendip.[1]
Hollow City[]
At some point, the girl came to London, probably seeking refuge. She was found by Balenciaga Wren, who took her to the Carnival Tourist Loop. There, Miss Wren had set up a base of operations in the frozen Peculiar Archives building, and the girl would join several others including Sergei Andopov in working in the Congress of Human Oddities, a sideshow.
She meets Alma Peregrine's wards when they come through the carnival looking for Miss Wren, but refuses to help them. Eventually she returns to the Peculiar Archives building, where Jacob Portman recognizes her from the sideshow. Later, she points out her homeland to the group when they had brought out a copy of a Map of Days, arguing with Millard Nullings over its name. She would be captured with the building's other occupants when Caul and his men break into the loop, and is sent to the Wights' Fortress.
Library of Souls[]
Like several other peculiars kidnapped from the Peculiar Archives, she would be hooked up to a soul draining device, and Jacob Portman and Emma Bloom discover her when they sneak into the part of the loop she is held in. She is rescued along with everyone else when the tower falls.
