The Peculiar Children Wiki

Sophronia Winstead was the first peculiar child to be born in a royal family of England. According to Myron Bentham, she had a interesting life, but tragic in the end.

Library of Souls[]

Sometime prior to the series, Sophronia was kidnapped by Bentham, who put her in a display case in his peculiarium using Mother Dust's dust to trap her in suspended animation.[1]

After Jacob Portman and Emma Bloom go back to the museum after running from the Panloopticon, Jacob accidentally pulls off the sheet over Sophronia's case. Thinking the girl is dead and stuffed, Jacob and Emma freak out and run. Later, Bentham tells them who Sophronia is and claims that she and the other peculiars in his collection are simply wax models.[2]

She was likely reawakened after the wights fell and returned to her loop.[1]

Description[]

Appearance[]

Sophronia is a young girl wearing a ruffled dress and a bow in her hair. She has a perfectly angelic face and during her time in Bentham's museum, "stared glassily at nothing in what seemed the permanent rictus of a taxidermied human being."
