Ted is a male peculiar appearing in The Conference of the Birds. His sparkstone is on the list of ingredients required to resurrect Caul.

Pre-Series[]
Ted's body temperature is minus fifty. Because he is so cold all the time, an ymbryne from many years before brought him a small green stone always aflame called the sparkstone, which he kept in his stomach to warm himself significantly. A few months before, however, after Caul had gotten himself trapped in the Library of Souls, a wight and a hollowgast came to steal the stone. The wight posed as a doctor that could fix Ted's condition entirely if the sparkstone was tinkered with, then took it. The hollowgast pinned Ted against the wall to prevent him from fighting back.
The Conference of the Birds[]
Elsie brings Jacob and his friends to the little house where Ted now always has to stay, to visit Ted. Emma helps to temporarily warm him up while he tells the group about his sparkstone's theft. When they leave, he thanks them and says that it's always nice to see friendly faces.

Ted is a young boy who, thanks to his temperature, is cold to the point his skin is blue, and has red-rimmed eyes. He stays cocooned in a pile of heavy blankets in his house, and has to shiver his words out.
Peculiarity[]
Ted has a condition where his body temperature is minus fifty. Even swaddled in heavy blankets in front of a fireplace, in a house where stepping in feels like stepping into an oven, Ted is still blue with cold and shivers, his tongue getting too stiff to talk properly. Waves of cold emanate from him, and touching him gives you frostbite.
