The Falls is a motel located in Staten Island in New York City. The Falls has special accomodations for their peculiar guests.

The Falls usually only rents to clan-affiliated peculiars, but will rent to non-clan-affiliated peculiars in special circumstances.

A Map of Days[]

Nine years before the book takes place, Abraham Portman stayed in room 203 of The Falls and sent a postcard to Jacob Portman about it, indicating that the place is a loop. Jacob and his friends decide to stay in the motel and in the same room shortly after arriving in Brooklyn, New York.

Description[]

The Falls is a shabby two-level building with rooms that open onto a busy street and a sign that boasted TV IN EVERY ROOM.

They have a room for floaters. All the furniture is bolted to the ceiling, so floaters can relax, dine, and even sleep in total comfort without the need of weighted garments or belts. They have pet-friendly rooms where peculiar animals of most persuasions are welcome, so long as they're house-trained, under a hundred pounds, and are certified nonlethal. They also have a special room for their combustible guests, so they don't burn down the rest of the property in their sleep. The room looks like a nicely furnished underground bunker. One room is filled with nice, loamy soil for guests with roots. The entrance hall is described as "dingy" polluted with traffic noise. A dim utility room is the loop entrance. One room has a large bed, some terrible curtains, a fat orange TV on a stand, fake knotted-pine walls, a fold out sofa, and a double-wide cot. The patterns on the fake knotted-pine walls all clashed to create a disharmony that feels almost like noise, a constant undertone buzzing that is vaguely unsettling.
