The Gypsies are a group of nomadic people who traveled through the Wales area. Though most of them are normal, they are aware of peculiars' existence and have an old alliance with them.
Description[]
Unlike regular gypsies, the Gypsies in Hollow City travel in circus-like wagons that are colorful and ornate. One of the wagons is described to be "a miniature house, with a little window on each side and a platform that jutted from the back like a porch."
Background[]
At some point the gypsies started taking in peculiar children and raising them. Both groups were considered outsiders, so they didn't seem to mind doing it. They would also help peculiars who stumbled upon them.
During World War One, the British seized the Gypsies' horses, leaving them immobile in the forest that would become their camp. The Gypsies later tamed a group of long-horned goats, who had peculiar origins, that had been seen around their camp and had them pull their wagons. Because of this, the Gypsies became known as the "goat people" throughout Wales until the war ended.
Hollow City[]
The group is traveling along when the find the kids of Alma Peregrine. Initially they are quite initially hostile but when they realized that wights were nearby quickly hid them. When the wight's left, they quickly realized that the kids were peculiar. Since they had friendly interaction with peculiar's in the past, they quickly welcomed them.
They insist the group stay the night, and people would take them to a train station the next morning. Considering the kids didn't have many options they agreed. That night everyone enjoyed themselves. Horace Somnusson even gives out predictions to people.
Bekhir Bekhmanatov would eventually pull Emma Bloom, Jacob Portman and Millard Nullings aside and takes them to his tent to meet his son, Radi Bekhmanatov. Radi was a invisible who was going through the early stages of invisibility, and the trio was able to offer some comfort.
The next morning, a group of riders, including Radi, take the group to the next town over. Though they were able to successfully to the train station, the riders were captured. The kids were also captured, and were taken to the same location as the riders. Hugh Apiston is successfully able to save both groups. After being released, the riders returned to the rest of their friends and family, leaving the kids behind at the station.
