Jacob Portman and his friends meet Warren while escaping the wights' fortress. Before he sees them, he is listening to music and shuffling papers. Emma and Jacob first mistake him for Caul when Caul's voice suddenly speaks, which startles Warren into turning around. Caul then says that Warren is his intern while Warren sinks into his chair out of fear of Emma's flame.
Caul has Warren push a button on his remote controller to show the children the room in which the wights are keeping the captured ymbrynes.

Warren wears a white lab coat with a name tag with his name on it, and has a balding head. The flesh of his face is melted, and his lips are fused together. When he first appears, he is holding a mechanical pencil and a remote control in his hands.
