The Peculiar Children Wiki

Wreck Donovan is a telekinetic male peculiar. He is the leader of a gang in New York City.

Biography[]

A Map of Days[]

Wreck is one of three peculiar gang leaders who responds when Frankie reaches out to the most notorious ones in New York in order to auction off Jacob Portman and his friends, the other two being Angelica and Dogface. As the auction starts, he argues with Angelica about Dogface, who hasn't shown up on time. He tells Frankie he will wait one more minute before leaving, and Dogface shows up almost immediately after.

Wreck, who needs muscle and lookouts for robbing, shows interest after seeing Millard, but the leaders appear ready to leave after Jacob and his friends struggle to speak, making them seem like idiots. They find it amusing when Emma takes Frankie hostage, and Wreck proposes to the other two leaders that they split the group of four between them, though they don't agree. Jacob tells them that no one is buying him and his friends, and Wreck corrects him, saying that they do not "buy" peculiars- rather they make monetary bids to post bail for peculiars guilty of criminal offenses, and the peculiars repay them with their service for three months. Many peculiars, if they have survived, choose to remain with the clan.

After Bronwyn breaks through her restraints, Wreck threatens to shoot, but backs off as Emma threatens to burn Frankie. Jacob and his friends explain who they are and what they have accomplished, earning a bit of respect from the leaders, but everyone is still wary of each other. Wreck asks what Jacob and his friends are doing to be here, and Jacob reveals that Noor is an uncontacted peculiar they, as outsiders, are taking with them. As this is a crime in peculiar America, the leaders are forced to report them to Leo, and Wreck does so. He and the other two make no more threatening moves on the group, only seeming disappointed.

As Leo's men take the group to Leo, the three gang leaders follow, with Jacob hearing Wreck and Dogface talking as they walk down the street. However, Wreck and Angelica are the only two brought in with Jacob and his friends, as Dogface has escaped. Both intimidated by Leo, they deny they were attending an "illegal auction," with Wreck claiming it was a job fair.

The Desolations of Devil's Acre[]

Wreck, Dogface, and Angelica attend the all-Acre assembly together, having been sent by Leo Burnham. The three briefly argue with Jacob and his friends, showing disdain for life in Devil's Acre and finding their own lives superior to being coddled by ymbrynes. However, Wreck is more tactful than his companions, acknowledging that the Americans have room for improvement.

He and the other gang leaders assist in fortifying the entrance of the peculiar ministries building, expressing his lack of faith in the ymbrynes when Jacob approaches him. Noor says that she didn't realize the Americans cared what happened to them, to which Wreck responds that they are not helping because they care, but it is in their interest to. One of the Untouchables lets slip that they are there to protect an investment, which Wreck covers up, claiming that it is in the European peculiars, who they hope to remain friends and allies with.

The three gang leaders later all join the Devil's Acre Defense Corps, shrugging it off as self-interest when Jacob is surprised to see them.

Dogface and Wreck later see Jacob and his friends sneaking back into their house after receiving Klaus's bone clock, and call out to them. Jacob asks why they have not left with Parkins and LaMothe, who have called off their loop freedom deal with the ymbrynes. Wreck reveals that they have decided to stay, citing the peculiars at the Acre as the only ones "that got any honor at all."

During the battle of Devil's Acre, Wreck and his comrades are the first Americans Jacob comes across on return. They had been fighting an ambrosia addict, who Jacob finishes off with a trio of hollows. Wreck recognizes Jacob, first alarmed, but then grins and thanks him. He and the other Americans then join Jacob and his friends in heading to the battle in the heart of the Acre. Under siege in Bentham's house, while the peculiars of the Acre are waiting for the repair of the Panloopticon, Wreck wakes up screaming and is attended to by Miss Peregrine.

After Caul's death, Wreck receives loop freedom along with the rest of the Acre's loop-trapped peculiars.
